BILIA Library and Information Centre(BILIALIC)

The BILIA Library and Information Centre (BILIALIC) is truly the heart of the Bangladesh Institute of Law and International Affairs (BILIA). It has been growing constantly serving the vibrant community of scholars, academicians and researchers as well as general users since its inception. The library launched in 1972 at House: 22, Road: 7, Dhanmondi R/A, Dhaka-1205, Bangladesh in BILIA ground prior and traveled to to-days address as Library and Information Centre by providing excellent and exclusive service. The library emphasizes services to users, at the same time trying to increase their self help-and self-service capacities

BILIALIC Mission:

BILIALIC aims at remaining dynamic and responsive to serve all users, to reflect good professional practice and foster quality, creativity and effectiveness with its collection and services. BILIALIC is a service centre whose primary mission is to provide academicians and researchers as well as general users with information access and research support in a user-friendly, professional, and instructional work environment.

Collections:

The Library’s collection is geared to the information pertinent to its services. Most of the collections of the BILIALIC are closely related to the research oriented on law and international affairs and those are classified, catalogued and displayed using international professional standards. The Library resources include books, periodicals and newspapers and efforts are being made to procure audiocassettes, videocassettes, CD-ROMs, data disks etc to assist research scholars and students. The users of BILIALIC have access to around 12,000 books, 500 Audio-Visual materials on request, 50 current periodicals and 12 national daily newspapers in both Bangla and English.

The Library has exploited the latest information technology to improve services and operating efficiency. Catalogues, information searching issue of stocks and return of those are in process of automation and the range of information available to clients will be increasing in the future

BILIALIC Services
Information Services:

An on-demand information retrieval service is available for all clients. In addition, the Library maintains the News Clipping covering 40 titles and New Arrivals, which publishes monthly with the list of books received in the previous months. The library also provides Indexing and Current Contents services. Current Contents publishes twice/thrice a month, which includes the copy of the content pages of the periodicals received in the last couple of weeks.

Current Awareness Services (CAS):

The BILIALIC offers a range of current awareness services (CAS) for scholars, academicians and researchers as well as general users to supply recent references in your own research area. Both CAS and Journal Contents Services are FREE.

Reference Service:

Reprography Service is available for all types of readers with affordable cost photocopies from the library materials if it permitted under the national and international copyright laws, rules and regulations.

Circulation Function:

BILIA Library circulation functions for scholars, academicians, researchers, lawyers, readers from various institutes is in process. But lending service is available for BILIA Members only.
